Message from the President

It’s an exciting time as we look toward Hebrew Academy’s future

shlomo-drazinI’m extremely proud to serve as Hebrew Academy’s new president! My family has been part of Hebrew Academy for generations – as a child and student in the school, I have fond memories of my father’s HA presidency. My grandfather was the president of the Jewish Day Schools, and my uncle and cousins were HA presidents! Accordingly, I’m both honoured and delighted to continue my family’s legacy and longstanding tradition, and eager to give back to the institution that has given so much to my own children.

As we look toward the future of the school, we have much to anticipate! Thanks to our wonderful Search Committee, we are extremely fortunate to have secured one of the top heads of school of North America over the last 40 years. To be able to say that Dr. Kalman Stein is our new Head of School, and is here to take us from where we are into the future, is something that we are all extremely excited about.
We can also be very confident in our phenomenal administration, which has done a formidable job in the last two years of leading Hebrew Academy in the absence of an educational director. I want to thank Executive Director Linda Lehrer as well as High School Principal Dr. Laura Segall and Elementary School Principal Shauna Joyce, who have taken Hebrew Academy to incredible heights and secured our position as a thriving, reputable institution.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to invite all parents to become involved with Hebrew Academy. There are numerous committees, functions and ways that you may be of support, whether by volunteering during the day at lunchtime, or assisting with our fundraisers, for example.

Volunteering is rewarding for yourself, it’s rewarding for your children to see that you’re invested in their school, and the school itself ultimately benefits. I encourage all of you to join me as we work to make the next few years the best ones yet!
