Dear Friends,
The education of our children is much like the process of planting seeds, waiting and hoping that one day, those seeds will sprout, become firmly rooted and flourish. It has been my good fortune to be a long time member of the HA family. Time and again I have experienced the nachas that the educators see each day, as they plant the seeds of knowledge and watch the children develop competencies and understanding, blossoming with self-esteem.
It is with admiration and gratitude that I recognize all of our teachers, educators, administrators, staff, custodial, clergy, donors, and community people who have, over the past forty years, made it possible for HA to tend to the early development of generations of community leaders, lawyers, doctors, nurses, stock brokers, accountants, rabbis, mothers & fathers…...
If you want to know if HA is successful, just look at our graduates.
If you want to know if HA is successful, know that close to 400 people came to the HA reunion in Israel.
If you want to know if HA is successful, see how many of our parents are Hebrew Academy graduates.
If you want to know if HA is successful, see how many of our students go to Yeshivot.
If you want to know if HA is successful, look at the overwhelming number of our greater community leaders that are members of the Hebrew Academy family.
On this occasion of the 40th anniversary of the amalgamation of the Adath Israel and the Young Israel, we celebrate forty years of excellence. HA’s formula for success comes from within and from without, as in-school curriculum and activities are leveraged by affiliations with like-minded organizations such as Kollel Torah Mitzion, Bnai Akiva, the various community Shuls, Emuna, Mizrachi, and Camps such as Moshava.
The HA organization is constantly seeking to improve the way in which it delivers on its mission, through honest self-reflection and evaluation and by opening itself up to the objective and thorough scrutiny of outsiders. In 2003 HA was the first community school to sign on to the CESI accreditation process, and as a result became one of the first schools in the history of CESI worldwide to receive unconditional accreditation on the first attempt. From there the school moved forward to implement many of the recommendations garnered during the accreditation process. We are now embarking on a new Long range planning program chaired by Mr. Barry Rishikof.
HA’s Holistic approach to education serves the entire student; mind, body and soul. Our curriculum encompasses Judaic studies, math & science, English, French History, Art, Physical Education activities & outings, and a strong spiritual foundation is provided by our Rabbis and staff, through prayer, religious study, good deeds and a strong affiliation with the State of Israel.
We move forward with a strong administration, led by Rabbi Perton and Mrs. Linda Lehrer; with first class facilities, including a state-of-the-art technology department, science lab, gymnasium, Beit Medrash prayer study hall etc…
It is my hope that together we will make this school year, and each coming year as successful as we can. I am honored, as school president, to join you in celebrating forty years of excellence at HA -- the only modern orthodox Jewish day school in Montreal.
Congratulations and Thank you!
